A
Little Night Music
by Sondheim and Wheeler
Set in turn-of-the-century Sweden, this Tony Award-winning musical is a fairy
tale for adults backed by the musical score of Stephen Sondheim. A middle-aged
man brings his 18-year-old bride to a play starring his former mistress. When
Fredrik and Desiree resume their romance, incurring the wrath of her current
lover, the situation culminates in a weekend at a country estate, with Fredrik,
Anne, Desiree and the Count in attendance. Also on hand are Fredrik's son,
hopelessly in love with Anne; Desiree's illegitimate daughter, the Count's
manic depressive wife, and a lusty maid. And there, under the summer night,
things are set to right. This show features such Sondheim classics as "Every
Day a Little Death" and "Send in the Clowns."
