The 10-MINUTE PLAY FESTIVAL

7:30 p.m. April 1-5, 2003
2:30 p.m. April 6, 2003
William Inge Memorial Theatre/Murphy Hall

The University Theatre, in collaboration with the Film Division of the Department of Theatre and Film, will cap off its 2002-03 Inge Theatre Series with the Ten-Minute Play Festival.

Ten-minute play festivals can be categorized as something of a phenomenon that has taken the theatre world in this country by storm. From New York to Washington, D.C., to Louisville, KY, to the Midwest, and throughout the West Coast, these festivals of “shorts,” as they have come to be known, not only offer an exciting evening (or afternoon) at the theatre, as audience members get a taste of a wide variety of genres, but also have stirred the flames of American playwriting.

Indeed, this University Theatre event should prove to be an eclectic one, as eligible submissions include new and already-published plays and a variety of student, staff, and faculty directors. What else does the University Theatre’s festival have to offer that many others may not? The inclusion of original short film/videos written and directed by KU film/video students and/or faculty.

The line-up for the 2003 10-Minute Play Festival includes:

Mrs. Sorken by Christopher Durang, directed by Joy Richmond.
