The Foreigner
by Larry Shue
A fast-paced, riotous comedy set in a fishing lodge in rural Georgia, this 1984 hit takes a look at a guest, Charlie, who pretends not to be able to understand English in order to avoid the attention of the other guests. When his plan backfires he ends up having to foil the schemes of the local Ku Klux Klan chapter without revealing his secret. The nonstop hilarity of the play focuses on telling a very funny story with zest and heart as things go uproariously awry for the "bad guys" while the "good guys" emerge triumphant
