This intensely tragic one-act play is set in old New Orleans and depicts how humorous conflicts
flare between a zealous mother and her self-destructive son struggling with sexual and
religious obsession, guilt, and moral corruption.
Premiered last season to showcase the work of emerging directors in the most “pure” way possible, the “Black Box” features student actors, limited rehearsal space, a minimal set, and a guerilla budget. Selected undergraduate directors will have the opportunity to showcase their talents while offering cutting edge material to our audiences.
